Officially it's a set of practices which combines software development (the “Dev” part) and IT operations, meaning deployment, server configuration and maintenance, pipelines etc. (the “Ops” part). The goal is to improve delivery time and to help development and operations teams work closer together. Since most of the time these tasks are done by the same DevOps engineer, you can`t get a more close-knit team than this.
