Low-level language

Dev & startup terminologies | Noun

an example of why devs shouldn`t name things: calling “low-level” something notoriously hard to use. Low-level languages are programming languages “close to the hardware”, hence they`re at the lowest possible level of abstraction. Low-level languages don`t have things like classes or objects. Commands are structurally similar to the processor`s actual instructions and they are referred to as “machine code” or “assembly language”. Low-level languages are considered difficult to use, due to the sheer amount of technical details the programmer must remember.

Developer at a D&D convention: I write machine code for a living. Crowd: *gasp*
