Script

Dev & startup terminologies | Noun

Just like your scripted, futile existence, scripts are lists of commands executed by certain programs or scripting engines. They`re mostly used to automate tasks which would otherwise be performed manually by a very unhappy human (think sys admins without their server configuration scripts and analysts without their Excel macros). Scripting languages don`t need to be compiled as they are usually interpreted at runtime. They`re intended to be read from start to finish, with no explicit entry point and they can be executed by entering the name of the script in the command line.

“I`m practicing stoicism. How do I remind myself of the meaninglessness of existence at regular intervals?” “You can set up a cron job for that using a script.”
