A server serves things. Not Pina Coladas, but data to its various clients, otherwise known as a request-response model. A server hosts apps and websites, basically making the Internet possible and Tik Tok. You can have various types of servers, from database servers which maintain and share databases over a network to file servers, gaming servers, email servers and, of course, web servers. However, don't confuse these with the ominous black box kept in well-ventilated closets. A physical server can in fact run multiple server programs.
