Staging

Dev process terms | Noun

the dress rehearsal for a functional app, complete with a stage (the sandbox environment), costumes (a somewhat decent UI) and a script (a collection of features based on user story requirements). Staging designates the environment in which app features are reviewed and tested before being moved into production. This acts as an intermediary step between functionalities which require development and production-ready features.

“Who said `All the world's a stage`?” “Either Shakespeare or a developer trying to merge the staging branch into production.”
